Frequently Asked Questions

BUYERS | VENDORS
+ What do I need to know before registering to bid?

It’s a good idea to talk to your bank, financial advisor or accountant to arrange pre-approval or to gather relevant advice before you consider bidding at auction. Once you’ve done your research, you’ll feel comfortable and confident bidding on property, whether it’s on the Anywhere Auctions app or in person at a property.

+ How does an auction work?

Anywhere Auctions does not change the way auctions work. We make sure you never miss an auction and bring the auction to you. So the same auction rules and proceedures apply as usual. You can find out more about how auctions work here.

+ Is buying a property online safe?

Yes, buying a property through Anywhere Auctions is absolutely safe and secure. We understand what a big investment your property purchase is and we’ve gone above and beyond to create a platform that offers security and convenience in equal measure.

Other than your name and phone number (which may be shared with the relevant real estate agent) your details will never be shared with anyone.

+ How much does it cost to bid?

Anywhere Auctions is free for all buyers. To register as a bidder, we will organise a temporary hold of a nominal amount of funds on your credit card. If your bid is successful, this amount will go towards your deposit. If you’re not successful, the funds will be released and you won’t be charged.

+ What if I’m bidding and I lose connection?

If you lose your connection after having placed a bid, your bid will still be valid. Once your internet reconnects, you will be instantly taken to the auction progress in real time so that you are never left behind. If you lose connection after you have won at an auction, the real estate agent conducting the auction will be able to access your contact details and call you to advise on next steps.

+ How fast does my internet connection need to be?

For best viewing experience, we recommend maintaining a minimum download bandwidth of 1.5Mbps or a 3G network connection and closing all background applications if you are on a mobile device. But don't worry, even if your internet speed dips, we have designed in redundancies such that even when your bandwidth is too low to stream the video, you'll still be able to hear the auctioneer and see the bid ladder, so that you never miss out so long as you have an internet connection.

+ Why do you need my ID?

By securely collecting ID of all bidders and allowing the relevant agency to verify and approve you for bidding, you can take confidence that you are not bidding alongside unethical or fraudulent bidders. The real estate agent may be in contact with you if they feel it is necessary in order to approve you to bid at their auction.

+ What happens if the property is passed in?

If the auction results in the property being passed in, you will get a pop up style landing screen with a button that allows you to send a message to the real estate agent expressing your interest in the property and requesting a call back to negotiate the purchase.

You’ll have instant access to express your interest in the property, putting you at the forefront for any potential negotiation.

+ Who runs the auction online?

No matter what happens on auction day, the real estate agent running the auction is in charge at all times. There are no unlicensed third parties involved in what happens during or after the auction. This means total transparency and integrity through the whole process.

+ Can you sign contracts online?

You sure can. If you win at auction, you will be able to sign the contract electronically to finalise your purchase. The real estate agent will contact you to walk you through the process.

+ Is selling my home online safe?

It’s absolutely safe to use Anywhere Auctions as part of your selling strategy on auction day. Our platform allows total control by the registered real estate agent managing your property. Unlike other streaming apps, there are no unlicenced third parties involved in the process. So you can relax knowing you’re in safe hands while reaching more buyers than ever before.

+ How can I trust an online bidder?

All online bidders have to go through a two step security verification. Firstly, your agent will manually check and verify the bidder and approve them for bidding. If your agent is not satisfied with a buyer, they will not be able to bid at your auction. Secondly, we take a credit card pre-authorisation of a nominal amount for all bidders. This is held during the auction and released after the auction is completed. If an online bidder wins, this amount will be transacted to form part of their deposit for your sale. This is done to deter unethical behaviour and try ensure that all online bidders are serious bidders.

+ What happens if my property is passed in?

If the auction results in the property being passed in, interested buyers that are bidding or even just watching the auction on Anywhere Auctions will get the opportunity to instantly notify your agent that they would like to negotiate. This is a fantastic outcome for vendors as it means you’ll have extended opportunities to reach a sale on auction day.

+ Who runs the auction online?

If an online bidder wins at your auction, you can finalise the sale on the spot through our integrated electronic contract signing. Your agent will communicate with the buyer and facilitate the whole process so that you don’t have to worry about doing paperwork later.
